Brake fluid question - is it still good? & SS brake lines?
I have a can/bottle of *never opened/factor sealed* Valvoline (sp?) Synthetic brake fluid I got last year. So, I was wondering if it is still good. What is the shelf life of these things? I know it's no good if it's opened...but it's not.
I don't want to just dump a brand new bottle if I don't have to. Opinions?
Also, do SS brake lines really help? I've heard people say yes... I've also hear people (a credable source) say SS lines make little difference (vs. stock). Pls don't jump down on me for this one.. I just want to get some more opinions.
FYI - I am running OEM calipers w/ slotted rotors and hi-per. street pads. I run 2 to 3 QClub events per year. The Glen is next.
Thanks,
Cris

Re: your fluid is fine, there's usually a foil seal under the lid
Yeah - I've opened and used DOT4 brake fluid which was in my lube cabinet for 2-3 yrs. It was sealed, and it was fine.
Regarding SS lines - they may offer a slightly firmer brake pedal feel as they won't flex like rubber lines do. AFAIK...
