Default Break in period for new K04 on 1.8T ? Miles and/or max RPM, etc?

Do turbos need to "break-in" ? Why or why not?

I read a post a while back about 500 miles. Is this correct? Max RPMs? Anything else?

Thanks !!

Default I have never heard of a break in period for a new turbo

the reason is that most turbos are tested on a bench after they are put together, this alone should be enough break in for any turbo. Just make sure that you give the oil time to run thru the turbo on the first start up after installing the new turbo.

Default less important for sleeve bearing turbos than ball bearing

but generally speaking agree that most turbos dont require breakin. Others may disagree

Default i hope so, i didnt realy break in my K03 sport, no problems....

it got a week of stock boost (300-400 miles or so) then it got chipped and was thrashed with a steady diet of 20 psi or so boost spikes.

Default I don't see how it's possible....especially with DBW

the idea is kind of silly....how do you break in something that spins that fast? Impossible.
