Hybrid K04, high flow exhaust and intake
Cat new in April 2000 as was O2 sensor

NOX failed the first test in December with 1600ppm. I was running Wett K04 software with a 4 bar FPR.

NOX failed this time with 1233ppm. I switched the programming back to stock.

I don't know where to turn although I am leaning towards a bad intake temp sensor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

High NOX usually means your cat isn't working....

Default I'd say you're running rich. I'd swap back to the OEM FPR too.

You may be pushing too much fuel.

Default Info..

Doc is right. You Cat might not be working. Is it the stock cat?

You need to hook a Vag tool up and check the readiness codes. Look at long-term Fuel trim and see if you are running real rich. If you are then it may not be the cat since Fuel trim is derived off the first O2.

Also check the Water Temp sensor. If it's bad it will cause Mixture problems. Its a Four pin Blue plastic sensor at the back of the Cyl head.

Default I might be able to help

when you replaced the cats...did you use the 3 way converter?? If you did mot that is your problem. when nox is produced the converter will cancel out the nox. your engine is producing too much nitrogen which contributes to photochemical. Nox is formed by too much heat and pressure of combustion.
Make sure you are using the correct grade fuel. check your cylinder head temperature...you might have too much heat in the combustion chamber. Try turing down the boost(for now) and run a can of PURE TECHRON off the shelf through a tank and see if you NOx goes not go down. Techron will run you about $12 a bottle. good luck

Default Ouch, I can't read it :) But from what I see.... Is that a 1200 ppm reading for NOx!?

Could be your catalytic converter as indicated by a few below. Is the TAP a three way catalyst? Check that first from them.

Is this a high rpm reading? I'm assuming so because I see nothing in the idle section. Your car is not running rich as indicated by the normal HC and CO readings. So, what could cause high NOx? check your temp lately? Is your car running hot, maybe running a bit lean and timing way too advanced? Back it out a bit - I mean get the stock settings back in there. Oh wait, you've got a KO4 hmmmm. Well, try to find some wat to cool it down or get some inert gas in the chamber. Dang an EGR would have helped you here. Good luck, if all else fails, get a good catalytic.
