Default Can the gear ratios in the stock manual trans be changed?

Since I lost second gear, I'm looking into my options.
A 6 speed conversion would be nice, but if I could change the 5-speed ratios to something better suited to a modified 1.8T powerband, I'd be happy as well. Maybe like the V6 gear ratios?

If so, sources for these parts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Default Yes, but they're kind of rare=$$$$, besides for $10K I can get an S4 6-speed trans........

With the motor attached

And it comes with all necessary parts to convert.

Hmmmmm........

Default Looking at the Bentley manual the 1.8 and 2.8 trans look identical...

Just that the V6 has a larger bellhousing and one different mounting point. I bet I could fit the V6 ratios into my 1.8 trans.

I guess the question is, Is it worth it?

1.8: 3.778, 2.176, 1.429, 1.029, 0.838
2.8: 3.500, 1.944, 1.300, 0.943, 0.789
