Can somebody please explain the different springs for the forge valve?

Default spring stiffness from weak to strong....green,yellow,blue,red

the surface area of the piston in the 1.8T is bigger than the 2.7T, so what might be a light spring in the 1.8T valve is a Race-only spring in the 2.7T valve body.


Basically all 1.8T Forge valves ship with blues

which open at 6-8" of Hg (vaccum)

the red opens at about 15" of Hg


I know SCTT runs a turboXS DV that opens at 18-19" of HG as his everyday setup.

he has no problems at all

Default Stratosphere shipped the wrong springs blue instead of green with mine....

And they've sent the replacements. But I'm not mechanically inclined, and was wondering if there were any serious concerns I should have if I drive with the blue until the green springs are installed.

Default UPDATED: the latest info from Forge states 8" of Hg for the Blue and 3" for green

spring in the 2.7T PISTON body...you have an S4 or A6 2.7T right?


I'm going from memory because I haven't moved all my old email to my new PC

I would switch to Green when they arrive, because for street use the minimal difference in boost recovery isn't worth it in my opinion and the green spring is almost identical to the factory DV settings, with much better sealing and reliability
