Can someone explain backpressure, and differences between different exhaust sizes?
on engines with a turbo.
What are the pros/cons of a smaller system (2.25 or 2.5") versus a bigger 2.75"/3"
please explain with as much detail as you can.
thanks alot
Liam

The backpressure is caused mostly by the small KKK turbos from the factory, and
of course the cat. This is the drawback to a quick responding street friendly OEM turbo because along with the backpressure comes exhaust gas reversion. More heat...less boost. I don't think the exhaust size means much with these little guys, but I like the way 3" looks and sounds. On a big turbo with some decent cam overlap you got to follow Hondas lead for a race engine...4"!

With a bigger turbo you want less back pressure behind it. This will lose bottom end
but since the turbo will make more power in the higher rpms you want to make sure it can flow more exhaust up in the higher rpms.
