Can you run lead race fuel 104+ octane with no cat?
1. What damage will it do to the engine?
2. What lubricating effects with it promote?
Its just an idea since most of the pumps in my area have race fuel with lead added to the mix. So I was wondering if its safe to use since my exhaust system dosent have a cat on the downpipe. Its going to be used on the 1.8T. Thanks fellas for the helpful info

The cat
is the reason you don't run leaded fuel.
You might find some odd quirks with the O2 sensor possibly. Depends on your programming.
I run 108, but I don't have an O2 sensor or cat's for that matter.
Top end lubrication is taken care of by the lead.
What brand fuel?

your engine will run poorly w/o an O2 sensor, and lead will kill it.
Why bother for at most 5 horsepower? OCtane is not as important as most people think, unless the engine can take it.
If you are getting lots of spark retard related to the knock sensor signalling the ECU because of detonation, then increasing the octane can help.
Other than that, unless you are rolling your own chip, you won't see any benefit from more octane than the car can use.

Your ECU
unless massively tweaked is taking the O2 readings and adjusting lean/rich for you. Without the sensor, it won't adjust at all, and you won't have waht you want.
My ECU doesn't look for an O2 sensor, so I'm OK. My settings are hardcoded into the ECU.

Yes - you can, but you will have to start considering the OEM O2 sensors as 'consumable' parts. I've run 110 leaded in my last few cars when the boost is 'substantial', and while the performance was good, the O2 sensors lasted for about 12-15 hours worth of use.
Most race fuel also comes in a high octane unleaded. I've got access to multiple locations here in the Denver area which sell 104 - 105 unleaded.
