Chip for 1.8TQ w/ Tiptronic
#2
No special recommendation, however I would recommend a chip for the Tip also..
I have the APR chip, and I am concerned that because the Tip engages gears so slowly when programmed for the 1.8T that this is a lot of time with excess friction going on. Not a problem with the factory engine chip, but not so good with the extra torque of a higher power chip.
However, I must say that I have not seen higher transmission fluid temps yet since installing the APR chip.
I don't have a chip for my Tip yet, but I will be getting one as soon as I have the extra cash. As far as I know, GIAC is the only tuner that offers a chip for the trans. But it does not require a GIAC engine chip. It should work with any engine chip.
