coilovers: calling all suspension gurus!
Hey,
I have a set of KW Variant 3 coilovers arriving this week for my 2002 Audi TT 225 quattro coupe, but am lost in terms of settings. I dont know how low to lower it in order to get the best rake etc. Dont know what the rebound, spring settings should be. Really, I am looking on advice on how to lower the car. Thanks!!
Also, can you recommend a suspension shop in the Bay Area

What are your goals with the car? One thing about the TT, the lower it goes, the more
camber it gets, and there is not enough to readjust the front, and to my knowledge nothing at the market yet to readjust the rears. Also, I haven't seen how bump steer can be compensated at the front yet.
Are the KW's rebound only adjustable or bound/rebound?
I don't know what ride height is optimum on our cars, but unfortunately like an Avant, tuning my (rear) heavier roadster will be different from what Coupes (and Sedans) require.
Our cars are known to get rear light on deceleration and braking (hence a weigh ballast on the rear and spoilers for high speed deceleration control), so you can help this by increasing the rebound rate on the rear compared to the front. I don't have numbers with me, because I haven't really tuned the suspension (well it's on Jackstands as we speak But in a few months, I would start taking this thing AutoXing.
I would suggest start with a 40% setting in front, and maybe 60% on the rear. At least they are both easy to tweak compared to the A4/S4/A6/etc (Audi platforms). On the ride height, maybe start dropping it 1.5" - since coil overs are easy to adjust, and see how bad it gets with alignment. But if you are looking for maximum track performance vs tire life, that's a different story good luck

There is a camber adjustment for the rear, (i have it) KMAC makes it. KW doesnt say anything about bound but they do say it has compression and rebound adjustment of the damper. There is also bump. They are 3-way adjustable. I have some charts:
