Default Could somebody give me a quick run down on the pros and cons of lightweight flywheels?

Mainly the cons. They've been on my mind a lot recently and I don't want to be sure I'm not forgetting some major downfall or am otherwise ignorant of any liabilities they can cause.

Light - winds quicker/shakes more/less energy at launch - heavy- opposite

Default They can make you car sound like a deisel at idle...

They require much more gas and feel at launch since there is less mass and momentum in your engine. IMHO a lightweight clutch is good if you are into racing/drag, etc. My son just did it in his stage 3 GTI and it has no day to day value.

Default I run a 12lb. FW on my A4 and it sounds normal at idel and drives fine everyday in traffic.

It takes a bit more care to launch it, but other than that I find it easier to drive daily. It is certainly much easier to match revs for proper shifting. If you've driven a car with a LW flywheel that was not practical as a daily driver, it's likely that it was due to the aggressiveness of the clutch and not the flywheel per se.

Default I did a 12lb with a big clutch at the same time..

and I find it more fun to drive, feels faster (not sure if it is or not, butt dyno sucks)...

it is BIT more difficult to drive in bumper to bumper, but I think that is more the clutch...

I would never go back. Makes stock cars feel heavy and syruppy.

Get it.

Default Rotating items have inertia, not momentum, "same" concept though...

I've also never heard a car with a light-weight FW sound like a diesel. Only ones that did had POS pressure plates, clutch discs or release bearings. Design flaws (Centerforce LT1/T56 clutch disc had a design problem, at least on some 4th gen Z28's I knew).
