Crosspost - NO HEADLIGHTS - need help (I am posting it here becuase we are generally more technical)
I replaced my bulbs on Sunday with LLTek's 70 watt H7s. Everything was great Sunday night and Monday night.
Tonight, when I tried to turn on the headlights - NOTHING!!!
The parking lights work. The high beams (flash) work when I pull in the turn signal. The fuses are all O.K. The bulbs are O.K. I even swapped the high beams with the low beams to see if it was the LLTek bulbs but that didn't work (yes the LLTeks work in the high beam socket when I flash them).
I am totally confused. Is there a circuit breaker between the fusebox and the headlamp? I can't find one in the Bentley manual. Could it actually be the switch in the steering column - but if so, why does it work with the parking lights?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Question...
Why would Audi put a 15 amp fuse for each low beam headlight (one left and one right)? By design, the switch (and entire circuit) should be able to handle a 180watt bulb for each low beam circuit (15A*12V=180watts).
Why would the switch fail? I don't know but my dealer has three in stock for some odd reason! (i.e., Audi has had probs)

One thing you can check...
is your ignition switch. Jiggle it around with the lights switched on to see if they come on. As you know, the parking and flash to pass lights bypass the ignition switch - the main headlights do not.
I've seen the ignition switch cause a similar problem on another old, beat-up silver A4. :^)
Happy turkey day!

The reason is cost...
Anything more than a 55 watt bulb is considered illegal for road use in North America. Therefore why would a manufacturer waste money on a more expensive higher rated switch. The average consumer (which is most Audi buyers) will never modify the lighting system. Any time you use a higher wattage light bulb or place higher current demand on the lighting system you should use relays. Even adding a utility trailer to the existing lighting system can cause premature failure of the light switch (the additional load of trailer lights burning out the switch has happened to me, on another car)

I know... Its crazy...
I thought it would be ok but when my headlights started to flash with my turn signals I new something was up.. Then I lost my lights exactly like described in the middle of nowhere at 1am.. The steering column was HOT to the thouch and I new it was burned out..
