custom intake with bov.....IDEA for MAF
I am about to make a custom intake with a cone filter. I know heat, heat, heat, but anyway I have a bigger heat shield and have duct cold air to the cone. My idea is that I want to install a BOV for the sound but also besides it making the car run rich I've heard it improves throttle response, etc... So here is the idea, if the car runs rich because the maf sensor is before the vented air then why not just move the MAF to the other side of the BOV like inbetween the intercooler and the intake mani. ??????? Would that not solve the running rich problem? I might just have to much time on my hands but what do you think

Not workable.
The MAF measusres air flow by heating the thin wire that lives behind the screens. The MAF heats the wire to a set temperature. As air flows over the wire, it cools the wire. More electricity is required to keep the wire at the set temp. So the MAF "knows" how much air is flowing through it by how much electricity is required to keep the wire at the set temp.
What's missing from this equation? Intake air temp. The above calculation does not work unless the intake air temp is known. By placing the MAF downstream of the turbo, air temp is much higher than the MAF can handle. Air temp will also fluxuate wildly with boost.

Doable, but opens another can of worms.....
that's how my car is configured right now, has the MAF between the IC and TB.
The problem with this setup, is that your crankcase ventilation system is now considered a vacuum leak, since the air that it's pulling in is not metered by the MAF.
You also have to keep in mind that the MAF sensor was flowed as a system (with airbox and all tubing) By putting it in a different place, you've just altered it's output, and could cause problems. With some MAFs, just rotating them 90 degrees can cause bad readings.
And then there is the reliability standpoint, you will get oil on the MAF element, and the Bosch MAF doesn't seem to hold up all that well, and now you want to throw boost and higher temperatures at it?
So in summary:
Is it possible? Yes
Has it been done? Yes
Is it recommended? NO

Sure about that?
An older configuration of mine, but it worked:

By your theory, the MAF wouldn't work as well on a cold day versus a hot day (or vice versa)
It measures MASS AIR FLOW. Not volume. Not temp. Not pressure. MASS AIR FLOW, which is a combination of volume, temp, and pressure.
Hotter air would cool the wire less, giving lower MAF readings. Cooler air would cool the wire more, giving higher MAF readings.
