Default so? Hydroflouric acid has plenty of legitimate uses

It's mainly used for etching glass.

Is there some problem with Hydroflouric acid, other than the problems if you get it on you?

Hot coffee can be deadly also.

Default No Steve, I have no problem with them producing the chemical

No where did I say anything bad about them. It was mearly a small adition to the conversation. Besides Mr. know it all, a hell of alot more is used in the production of gasoline. Unless of course there has been a big run etched glass this weekend. Anyone got a sedative for this guy?

Default what's the ouch for then?

Check out the understatement in the article below. Yeah, hydroflouric acid can cause skin burns. Oh yeah, and dissolve your bones.

I don't know how much HF is used in gasoline production I have to admit. It's used as a catalyst, so perhaps not much.

Does low sulfur gas mean you can't use Sulphuric Acid to alkylate any more?

http://www.acusafe.com/Newsletter/Stories/0801News-MonthlyIncidents.htm</a

Default Well, at the eight plants I work at only one has a sulfuric unit.

All of the others use HF. The acid actually will burn and it will not stop until it gets to your bones. To stop the acid the first aid workers(if they get to you in time) will shoot the surrounding skin with calcium shots. A one ounce spill may take over 50 shots to contain. Also they do not give you a pain killer because one of the ways they tell if they have contained the bunring is by you screaming in pain. And the ouch signified pain since HF is especially nasty to skin and stainless steel.
