Default ecs tru-float rotors - opinions?

does anyone have any first hand experience with these?

people tell me not to get them, and they are bad. however fail to give me any specific reason. ecs stuff has been good to me in the past, and these look like a solid solution.

i am eyeballing the cayenne kit (i know it's overkill)

Default what part are you asking about? the whole kit?

some think the kit sux because you cant get any race pads.

you can have them made without much trouble but still a pain in the ***.

solid solution for want?? looking big under big wheels?? yes, yes it is.

what do you hope to gain from a brake kit?

Default He appears to ask specifically about their tru-float rotors . . .

I have no experience with their system, but it does not appear flawed. You may purchase top-of-the-line kits from Brembo and Stoptech, but ECS appears to have engineered a reasonable solution/product for the price.

From the ECS Website:

"Rotor Bobbin and Conical Spring Washer: One of the major benefits of a 2 piece rotor is its ability to allow the rotor ring to float freely on the rotor hat. On the race track it is easy to design a rotor with this functionality; however a clanking loose rotor ring driven on the street quickly looses its appeal. To overcome this we employ the use of a rotor bobbin and conical spring washer. This allows the rotor ring to float freely on the hat while spring tension from the washers holds the rotor ring snuggly in place. The result is a true floating rotor with out the ordinary side effects of rotor clank produced by my high performance 2 piece track rotors."<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?html=info-B5S4-Braking-OEReplica.html">ECS Tru-Float info</a></li></ul>

Default I have the rotors and they've been fine

not as hard as some I guess but the price is right.

the anodized surface on the hat is quite thin so they might not look great for very long.

Default when looking at BBKs, take availability and price of replacement parts into account.

I know Stoptech's rotors and hats aren't cheap, but they do last a long time. unfortunately, my Stoptech hats are starting to show signs of cracking above some of the drive pins - which I'd be curious to see how long the ECS hats last.

also, pads for Stoptechs are easily found with lots of choices. I would assume for this kit as well since its a Porsche caliper.

and, in that pic, I see Super Blue brake fluid. I know the Audi clutches don't like it. Motul RBF 600 works great.

Default right on, but also know that when you replace the rotors you gotta send the hats to ecs

they wont send you just the rotor rings alone.

so take into acount the possible down time and or the fact you get suck buying a whole new set of rotor rings and the hats.

it wont be a big deal for you with street pads because the rotors should last a long time

U could do the grooves in alternating black/gold and maybe put lights behind for the drillings
