Evo Motorsports AireTEK induction system - opinions?
Any experience here on the board? I've done a new exhaust, so am interested in more air too.
TIA

I've asked Evo how much of the stock....
airbox system this replaces - I agree that inside the engine bay intakes aren't a good idea. I also hear that the stock system is pretty efficient. The AWE Tuning system may be a better idea. (see URL)
There is a group buy on the Evo system right now.That's why I've posted.<ul><li><a href="http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/part_detail.cfm?PMaI=1&PMoI=28&PEI=6&PP=a6_27t_dri vetrain.cfm&PPT=Drivetrain&IL=Sflo">http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/part_detail.cfm?PMaI=1&PMoI=28&PEI=6&PP=a6_27t_dri vetrain.cfm&PPT=Dri

Re: Hot Air...
The way it has been explained to me is that the factory airbox gets plenty of air for general upgrades, but once you go to direct air intake, your now getting the same amount of air only hotter!

They work w/ some custom work..
..you'd have to funnel the air (avoiding sharp cut-off's/elbows in yout plumb work) from one of the lower grill assys. Minimal top end power and slightly faster turbo spool is all that they'll yeild. The MAF will get dirty a lot faster and has the potential to fail prematurly. You'll run a little richer (nothing excessive) and the oil would need to be changed more often. When my boost would dump w/the CAI, I had less stumble and it was more "free flowing". This only applied @ lower speeds (still running k-03),...fwiw.

Honestly, this might be true for a non-turbo application
but a fellow AW member brought up a point that makes sense.. You got a air coming out of the turbo that is over 900 degrees.. Now what the heck is this 30 degrees going to do?? If possible Id like to do some vag com runs and check the air temp after the second intercooler to see if there was actually any effect of air temp.. My guess is no..

Inlet air coming out of the turbo isn't 900 degrees.
More like 150-250 degrees (depending on boost, compressor efficiency, and intake temp), and the inlet charge temp will have an influence on the turbo outlet temp.
