Default exhaust temp guage question...

im thinking of puttina a boost guage and an exhaust temp guage in my 01 1.8t. What is the normal temperature range for the exhaust manifold? what temp should the car be shut off at? my friend has a cummins turbo diesel truck with a few engine mods, and he is supposed to shut the truck off when the temp drops below 300 degrees. what temp should it be for an audi?

Default You can easily see over 1000 Farenheit, more in the range of 1400-1600, depending..

on where you mount hte temp probe. Definitely mount it in the exhaust manifold above the turbo, because the turbo absorbs a lot of energy (heat) so you get a better reading of what is happening in the cylinders by measuring before the turbo.
