Exhuast droning problems. Need some input.
I just got a Stebro exhaust installed in my 99 A4 2.8 Tip, today. There's a really loud droning sound when in the 2000-3000 rpm range. The guys that installed it think that it probably just needs to be worn in a bit. They said that the heat expansion will quiet it down. I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar problem, with thier exhaust, regardless of brand. Does anyone have any input that could share that may be the cause.
In the meantime, I'll drive it for a few days and see how it goes.
thanks.

Did you check to make sure nothing is rubbing.....
clamps or mounts? If nothing's rubbing and the exhaust is just resonant by nature, it will only get worse as the packing material burns a little. Exhausts don't get quieter with age, they get louder.

The droning is typical on baffled exhaust systems. It probably gets quiet when the engine is revving high right? Is your muffler straight-through or does it have baffles?

Re: Very common on the 2.8 cars....
That V6 is just loud by nature, you should hear one with no cats and a straight threw muffler(one of the loudest street cars I've ever heard). Not familiar with your system does it have two mufflers or one? I've heard several different systems that all had that droning, so I doubt it's just your car.
