Failed DV?????? HELP! '98 1.8T
Ouside temp approx. 25F, started and engine ran not "round", hesitated and on the first couple hundred yards the "honk" was pretty loud, actually I think it's the first "honk" I ever heared. Power was way down. After warming up a little power was back to normal but Check enginelight is on now.
U guess it's a failed DV, question: Forge or Bailey as replacement, any comments???

well he seems to be saying the stock one isn't working or cutting it
maybe there is a batch of defective Bosch DV's or maybe there is something going on with street cars that isn't in Don's car
IC size?
air temps caused by chipping?
underhood temps from stop and go traffic?
something else?
At first I believed this was mostly paranoia and "me-too" hypocondria (sp?)
but now I'm starting to wonder if it's something else.

I'm assuming you're chipped...
My DV was in there backwards from the factory, which is fine for factory boost..there isn't a problem. After the chip upgrade I really didn't notice it too much, after the K04 upgrade it really started becoming a problem. I ordered a Forge valve and put it in there and everything is great now. I think it's still in there backwards tho.
The pressure side of the valve should be hooked to the SIDE, and the bypass low pressure side should be hooked to the bottom. Mine has been in backwards all this time That awful Honk is gone now too.
Oh, and the K04 feels like a K04 now
