Default Found an interesting pic to demonstrate braking with the porsche brakes(edited)

Pic from the Sanair rally last april.

coming down this straight, I was at the top of 3rd gear....and braked at the red line (red arrow/line) and turned up the little hill.
When I look at this picture, I still dont believe it!
Must also give credit to the 255 tires..

the camera crew that was at the end of this hairpin threw themselves out of the way because they didnt think that I'd brake in time, so unfortunately, I dont have pictures from "head on"

regards,
Liam

Default no clue.

I only passed through there twice (it was a rally, so you only go through parts of the sections of track once or twice)

everyone was taking it differently. I was taking it wider because my car was pretty low. but some people were cutting earlier and going up the grass instead of asphalt

Default Cool......

I've got 993 brembo's on the front of my silver A4, and just got word that my 4 wheel stoptech kit has arrived for my avant. Too bad I can't find the time to get to the track. Someday, and I'll be ready!

Default what did you take the turn at?

Top of 3rd is about 88 - 90mph @ redline.. So, 90 to say.... 40mph to take the turn isn't too bad.

Default probably 50mph, dont quite remember that part

co-pilot was screaming "BRAKE BRAKE, LEFT UPHILL!" the whole time

I dont have video of myself thru the entire section, but you can check out these videos of an evo going in (slower than us...guy had no brakes and was on street tires)

right-click save-as and use quicktime to view these.

Default Gonna call you on this one...

I'm not being a jerk here...but..you can clearly see by your brake lights that before the pavement transition, and the diving of the car, you were stepping way hard on the brakes before that point...

Even with Brembo, it would be real close, and you would of probably carried quit a bit of speed into that turn...

But, brakes definitely did the trick and got you slowed to take that turn...nice..
