Friends car is stumbling...
Its a 12v A4.
Mechanic says "3" injectors mechanically failed at the same time. They want $1200 for new injectors and labor and theyre looking to start the work tonight.
I just cant see three injectors failing mechanically at the same time. I would think it would be something else making the car stumble.
There was no CEL and I think if a misfire occured due to THREE bad injectors, there would of been a CEL thrown, right?
I dont want to see him get ripped off for 1200 if this isnt even the problem. I think he would be better off trying to get them pulsed (cleaned) before buying new ones.
What do you guys think?

I had three of 4 go on a Nissan at the same time. I assume they cycle pretty close to the same
number of times over 155, 000 miles .
If it were me, I'd say go ahead but if it doesn't cure the stumbles those injectors get pulled, and mine get put back on your dime.

Kinda pricey for injectors and the labor. They must be quoting something like 5-6 hours at $100/hr.
They could have failed each on their own through time and not necessarily at the same time.

I agree with you, get them ultrasonically cleaned before replacing . . .
I have 140,000 miles on my injectors and they continue to run great. One died at about 90,000 miles, but ultrasonic cleaning revived it. For some reason, the gasoline these days really sucks! Our 12v's need fuel cleaners to keep running well.
I run a Fitch fuel catalyst full-time (it just drops into the tank to molecularly control the fuel molecule length thereby decreasing the number the short molecules that get into the combustion chamber and burn early causing carbon deposits).
I run a bottle of BG 3000MI or Lubromoly's ventilsauber about once every 3000-7500 miles depending on how the car feels, VAG-Com codes, spark plug appearance, etc., just for preventative maintenance.
BG 44k works well for cleaning neglected fuel systems. I had a completely screwed up fuel system due to neglect before I struggled for months and learned about the nature of the problem.
Beyond that, Ultra-sonic cleaning for leaking/dead fuel injectors.
