Default Got Brakes?

Pic is of my roommate's '97 A4tq (Purdue_A4 or whatever his forum name is, I forget)...

<img src="http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~fergusoe/Misc/DSCF0001_SM.jpg">

Porsche 986 caliper, A8 rotor, he machined his own brackets from 7000-series Al alloy IIRC.

He's hardly online right now due to his summer job (8-10hr days, 6 days a week, plus 140mi commute one way).

He hasn't had time to yet, but I'm sure he could be persuaded to this fall ;-)

I may snag his Pro-E file, and change it to work with the 993 Black calipers (which is what is on my car currently) as I like his design better than the Vortrag piece.

Default Is that a variation on the TD Monza anthracite wheel without a bolt cover plate?

I've never seen that before. They've always had cover plates of one type or another.

Looks very good.

He said it was a Slick or Silk or something (he's not known for having a great memory OR spelling...). I agree, they do look darn nice on his car. He's gonna send me a couple other pics after the mod'd S4 bumper goes on. I'll be able to stick those up if anyone is interested...

what car was built when, and what engines it should have...

Those are the A8 rotor, 312mm, so not much smaller than the 13" you are running...Besides, the 986 caliper is better than the DL's you are still running. Nice and light, too.

Also, his wheels are lighter than yours, less metal in them, more room inside for brakes. He could run a 13" (or larger) rotor behind those wheels (still a 17" wheel, too) no problem.
