Default got a new question I think...

would APR or GIAC sell their software to an individual to modify his own car only. I would be willing to sign a contract that I could not use the software to make money. I just would like to be able to tune my car for my conditions with no down time. I know several other cars sell ECU/PROM burners/software etc. I know I would also have to buy hardware but hey this is a What if question so what say you tunners?

Default

Doubt they would do it. Too risky no matter what you sign. I wouldn't do it.

Default I understand the risk the tunner would have to make but why should i ahve to send my specs off

and wait when i COULD just program it myslef. Im sure GIAC/APR wont customize EVERY chip he sells and if he does WOW! Why not profit from selling the software to some serious performance geeks.

is it buisness Risky well kinda...Would any of you buy *anyones* software(I wouldnt), who knows what they could have done to the timing/fuel/boost etc. Besides what about the people who are doing complete custom kits (bigger than a t3/t4) like what i have in the works. WIll GIAC/APR burn me a chip...will it be cheap enough that I will want it? Will he keep burning it as I mod my setup? The way I see it is that tuners *should* market a software option(no one said cheap) to flash the ecu or another option to myself and others is go stand alone boost/fuel/timing and have it tuned or tune it yourself.

As I mentioned about the ECU, I bet you could dev the software to only be able to write to one ecu as well. That would prevent 99% of the people from stealing your software and undercutting you or whatever.
