Has anyone rebuilt the short block on a 1.8T?

No, but if I were going to, I'd stroke the motor to 2.0 liters.
If you're planning on new rods and pistons anyways, why not spend the extra on a crank as well?
You can get all the stuff custom, but it's pretty expensive (Crower can do a custom one for any motor for the low price of $4000) I know Dahlback has a kit as well, but not sure how much it is. I would think that there are others out there, it's just a matter of finding them. You'll probably need a custom ECU program as well though.
