Has anyone successfully got rid of Catalyst Efficiency below threshold
on a DBW car?
I have APR's cat, and the damn fault always appears after 2 driving cycles.
I tried the O2 Simulator from casperelectronics, it cleared this fault, but generated a fault for high resistance in the cirquit.
I would not care about the cel, but f...ing OBDII inspection would fail the car.
My next thought is that maybe the cat APR uses does not have enough precious metal, so if I install another 200cell cat, but of higher quality, it will resolve the problem.
Any thoughts, experiences would be highly appreciated.

APR has code for the S4s running test pipes or their early downpipes...
which didn't relocate the secondary O2 sensors to behind the cats. This code ignores the Cat efficiency DTCs so no CEL occurs.
I'm sure APR could develop the same code for the 1.8Ts. However, could and would are two very different things. You can try asking APR about this option, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I spoke to APR, and they said that eventually they would fix it
but this does not sute me, since my car is due for an inspection in September.
I know a guy who had the same problem with his Porsche 996TT, and after he put a high quality HFC the fault did not appear, so that's what I'm hoping for.
But in my case it's going to be a more expensive solution, since his was just a bolt on for the car, and mine will require welding and cutting the pipes.

I'm going to contact the company that sold a cat for my friend's Porsche
and find out who makes this cat, and I'll let you know. I think he paid around $350 for it.

APR's cat is already very high quality. It's a full metal matrix cat, not the cheapo ceramic kind.
The problem only comes up with DBW cars, as those of us with nDBW have been running the cat for years and never gotten a code. For whatever reason the DBW Motronic unit is much more sensitive to cat efficiency, probably to get the car a better emissions rating from the factory. APR, however, uses the same cat for nDBW and DBW. The issue is likely not one of quality of the cat, but efficiency: DBW cars might need a more restrictive cat to meet the standards the the ECU wants to see.
