Has anyone thought about wrapping the crankcase pipe with exhaust wrap?

Default Has anyone thought about wrapping the crankcase pipe with exhaust wrap?

I find that it produces just as much heat as the turbo...

Default Most likely hot because it sits above the turbo.

If it was hot because of the pressure coming out of it would then hurt performance since that pressure is then pushed thru the IC tube and into the motor.

Are you saying that pipe isn't supposed to be hot?

Default I don't think it would do much....

It mainly draws air out of the crankcase and into the intake tube in front of the turbo, but it's not a lot of air.

The best thing would be to run a new line away from the turbo, and have it go to an oil separator.

That way you'll have cooler and oil-free air.

Default It shouldn't be that hot

Your oil temps are around 230-250 deg while your exhaust pipe is going to be much hotter then that. It would be better to wrap that oil pipe to keep the heat from the exhaust manifold from heating it up. I would do that on my car but use a catch can so I dont have to worry about it.

No you wont since the catch can will replace all of that.

Default Depends on how you have it setup.....

If you use a breather/catch can, then no, you won't need it, but if you use an oil separator setup (no outside vent) then you will need it.

IMHO, the oil separator is the best way to go, since a breather will act as a vacuum leak under part throttle conditions.
