Certtain ECU's are interchangeable, but I can almost guarantee.....
the combo you're entertaining is not. An '02 A4 and the '05 A4 are definitely not interchangeable. For starters, the engine codes should be the same, with the same trans, same ignition systems, same evap, same fueling, etc, same number of cylinders, etc. There's a chart of what's currently known as interchangeable.
