Have to replace 5-speed in 96 A4 2.8 quattro . HELP! ???

Default Have to replace 5-speed in 96 A4 2.8 quattro . HELP! ???

New, used, aftemarket, OR, 6-speed from newer model?

Default Hrm. you think the clutch master + slave will need to be changed too?

why? i'm guessing it might bolt up...i wsih somebody with $$ would try it.....


would allow us to use the rs4 clutch. teehee.

Default I'm not sure....

I'd have to check ETKA to find out. I'm just bringing it up as a possibility.

You would need to get a 2.7/2.8 flywheel in order to use an RS4 clutch.....

Ah. Well, if the tranny bolted up, would it make sense to do the rs clutch or something else?

Default You could do the RS clutch if you do the RS flywheel....

but then you're looking at adding a lot of weight, since the V6 flywheel is going to be even heavier than the stock 1.8 flywheel.

If someone came out with a lightweight V6 flywheel, it would probably be worth it.

good point. more worthwhile to use stock/lightened 1.8t (or 2.0t in your case) flywheel?
