Default 104+

Both a friend and I used the 104+ octane booster back in '94. I put a bottle in my Jetta, and he put a bottle in his 318. Within a week or so, both of us had fuel transfer pumps fail. It seemed too coincidental for me to keep using the stuff, and I never will again.

I now find a station with 100 octane pump fuel instead, and use that. I haven't had a problem with it.

Default How do you know it's mild? Very hard to tell IMHO.

The pump octane from your local dealer varies widely and wildly. I start with Mobil/Chevron and test for knock, the add NOS octane boost if I still get a knock.

MANY chips are too far timing advanced and will ultimately damage the engine.
