Default Head games (aka How I spent another weekend...)

I went through my head last weekend, and gasket matched the ports, cleaned up the bowls slightly, and polished the exhaust ports.

You wouldn't believe the amount of carbon caked on the port walls. Also, removing and installing the valve keepers are a PITA!

This weekend I'll be CC'ing the chambers (I'll check the pistons as well) and putting new valve stem seals in.

Some port shots:

Ported on the top, stock on the bottom. As you can see, I did very little. The stock port actually has a lip that curves down. It was a simple matter of removing the lip.

This is where the most time was spent. I opened it up, and then went in with some sandpaper rolls. I used a screwdriver to chip all the carbon off in the bowl area.

Below is a link to all the pics I took. They are BIG (1472x1104 images)

P.S. These pics are hosted on my PC, let me know if they don't work. It's my first webserver

http://johnbaas.dyndns.org/images/

Default You can't really wipe the carbon off...

It's CAKED on. I haven't touched the block yet, just the head. I opened the ports up to the size of the gaskets, cleaned up the exhaust ports and valves, polished the exhaust port, and I'm putting all new seals in the head.

I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to the block. Maybe a 2.0 conversion

Default I don't think so. I'm sure the stock engine management would work...

it would definately need a custom chip though...
