Help!!! Got GIAC 1.5 ECU -- Car is buggin' out!.
Hey Folks,
I just got my ECU from AWE, and the part number
is different from the original part number;
My old ECU is 8D0 907 557 N 0 261 204 179
and the new is 8D0 907 557 P 0 261 204 258
The GIAC chip is running PGL30A-V03.
The giac site says both are appropriate for '97 1.8TQMS, so I installed it anyway, and followed the instructions for the throttle adaptation, and then went out for a short ride.
It idles fine, but at about 2500rpm or so, the car feels as if it's got a sock in the intake. It stays this way until about 4000 rpm, and then it gets better, but there's still no power. What's wrong? Did flub the throttle adaptation, do I have a bad chip/ECU, or should I just go for a ride longer than 5 mins?

Info..
First off 30a is stage1.
You might be in limp mode. Is your check engine light on?
You might also have a boost leak that you did not notice with the stock 5psi program. Check the Bypass valve and turbo hoses.

Sounds like the throttle body settings got corrupted during install...
You'll need a VAG tool to correct it. Contact us on Wednesday the 27th with any questions.
These two ECUs are fully compatible.
