Default how efficient will my car run with a 45 degree coupler between the maf and air filter

I'm trying to fit a custom intake in my car for my turbo kit. I know i should have a straight route for the air without and obstructions so the maf will read properly, but which side? In my very detailed diagram I've included a possible layout for the intake. What should I do?

Default If possible round that 45° so it is gradual...also important

Is to locate that intake in the coolest location possible so you are not sucking up hot underhood temps. Get ready for some BPV noise too...I liked the sound my Dahlback made..but was too much in the end.

Finally if you can get Ram Air in your your cone that would help out with negative boost and spool up times.

Default You are better off moving the maf closer to the turbo

which will give you a section of straight pipe between the maf and the air filter.

Default when it comes to MAFs, you want it as straight as possible.

before and after the MAF.

With an angle on the front of the MAF you can have unequal airflow distribution, causing faulty readings, even rotating the MAF (with an angled inlet) can have an adverse affect on the MAF readings.

if you have a straight section with bends on each end, then I would suggest putting the MAF in the middle, and if possible, at least a 6" straight section before and after (and if you removed the flow straightener screen from the MAF, put it back in)

Default Nope.....

been in Germany visiting in-laws for the past 2 and a half weeks now, and was pretty busy before then prepping for the vakay.

I'll be home on the 2nd, got the 3rd off, if you don't here from me by then, shoot me an email as a reminder, I'll check it out.

36mins to the new year, got some drinking to attend to

Default curious how you make out with this...I might have to fab something custom up myself

what turbo and manifold are you using? I'd love to see some pics of the final piece and see how it all fits together in the tight space we have. Thanks.

Default i'm using a pes mani with a hybrid turbo...

i mocked everything up the other day but unfortunately my transition elbow came too close to my radiator fan and pinched. I have to use the pes intake tube for now. I'll post pics when everything is done. Probably 01/05. good luck!

Default I'm thinking GT28RS with APR stage stage 3 manifold

use a 90 deg elbow from inlet, 3" metal pipe with bung welded in for the bpv to a 45 degree elbow, then small section of 3" pipe to the MAF to the cone. I'm thinking if there is room this ought to work out ok and put the cone further away from the turbo than the APR stage 3 inlet pipe puts it. But if the PES pipe fits for your application, why not stick with that? It's smooth and fits a 3" MAF housing. I would think it to be ideal.
