How much boost with garret chip ? Bad freq valve? (more)
I just swapped out my TAP stage II chip for a Garret chip, and it doesn't feel much different.
If I did a run in 3rd, it would go like this:
The TAP chip would hit 12.5 psi, then slowly creep to 15, then back down at higher RPMs.
The garret chip will hit 15, then bounce to 12, then back and forth for about two seconds, then settle at around 13-14 psi. Sometimes it will creep up to 17. Every now and then when I punch it, it will jump to 17, but usually it doesnt.
What gives? Bad frequency controller? I have already replaced the BPV with a Forge unit.
TIA

John, let me know what you find (more)
Our A4 is exhibiting similar symptoms- boost usually only goes to 12 psi, will flutter between 12 and 14 psi when floored (noticeable surging), but will occasionally hit 15-16psi.
AWE says it's a bad bypass valve, I plan on replacing it in the near future. If that doesn't fix the problem, I'm going to be rather miffed (or if the bypass valve is fine) because I don't want to just throw parts at the problem, I want to fix the problem correctly. If all else fails, I'm going to have my mechanic take a look at the car.
