How much H.P. can my 00 A4 1.8TQ TIP handle

Many people have k04 kits putting out 240 or more with no problem...
and rpi has an A4 tip which they claim has 270hp now.
A k04 kit at 240 sounds safe. No one has ever had problems with this setup (as far as i know)

Max Power mag is planning to put an APR stage 3 in their MY2000 tip...
They just mention this in the article in the last issue. They don't discuss about if the tranny will be stressed or not.

SGI in Germany built their A4 1.8T FWD with 280 hp. no problems...
I think they used KKK K04 turbo and 2 intercoolers plus their own custom exhaust which has a pipe from the turbo all the way through. I wonder who would know how many hp the 1.8T FWD can handle?

It's not the engine, it's the auto tranny.
When I had a A4 tip, I looked into it a bit. It's been awhile, so I forget all the sources, but I recall that the published hp the automatic can handle was no more than 250 ft/lbs of torque. HP is another matter.

MTM blew an auto trans back in 96 with a K04....
which is why they won't sell you a K04 kit if you have a tiptronic/auto A4. I find that if I run it real hard I get the fluid temp up and the car goes into limp mode. I have a trans/oil cooler sitting here that I will have to install, and I will see how that goes.
