how would a GT25/40R work on a 1.8t ?
<a href="http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Cod e=GRT-TBO-003&Category_Code=ACS">atp gt25/40r</a>
I guess you could fit this to a apr s3 manifold...
And it sure does give enough air for a 1.8t...
but would it spool before 4k rpm?
How would respons be?
Audi2ptzero, you seem to be updated on such things?
Ive seen you've commented Lucas' rayhall gt2535 turbo before. How would this atp gt2540r compare?
Thnx
Jamez.

nobody? ...audi2ptzero?
another link...
same turbo
<a href="http://shop.store.yahoo.com/phase2motorsports/gagtnfrgrsh.html">gt25r</a>
pretty sure this is the same turbo as ray hall sells.
The biggest gt25 from rayhall is the gt25/40r with .86 AR , and the next biggest is the .64 AR ??
I guess the biggest might give spool too late? above 4k rpm...?

Re: Ok I'll spill a little beans....
Garretts just finishing up the gt2871 for manufacturing. A much better choice with a better balance between the compressor and turbine wheel. THis is right from a Garrett engineers mouth. Theres a few units out right now being tested ;-). Just going to have to wait for probably 3-4 weeks for test info and turbo to be out.
The gt25/40 is still a really nice turbo that will give you the performance but the gt2871 should deliver ;-). I got the gt3071 on my car right now.

sweet...
I did not actually think of that one...
But It sure does look like a better choice.
http://www.atpturbo.com/root/turboinfo/gtlineup/gtlineup.htm
I also thought the gt25/40r seemed a bit weird balanced with huge compressor and small turbine, but it would still be a compromise so that I dont have to change my manifold to a t3 one, or re-weld it...
How is the gt3071r working out for you?
spools when?
You're still on 1.8liter (not 2.0) ?

Re: sweet...
Mines a 2.0, you gewt that pin you in the back of your seat, mega turbo kick right about 4k. Hard to tell right now since my clutch is slipping and doesnt stand a chance. Down a little bit on this page I made a post and threw in a new dyno whenre you can see the turbo take off and clutch slip.
I say you sound like a GT2871 canidate.

i am runnign GT25r or GT2540r...
i've set it up to 20psi, it spools 20psi by 4500 and maintans that upto 6500rpm.
I've tried GT25r with boost upto 24psi, and still it reaches that by 4600rpm.
the boost on this turbo starts around 2500rpm.
K03 had full boost by 3000~3500rpm (15psi)
GT25r has 15psi around 4000rpm.
hope this gives you some idea.
personally, i don't want to get any bigger turbo. when you put it in third or second gear from 2000rpm.. you have to wait till 4500rpm before the car starts to accelerate fast.

Re: sweet...
I sure think I am... a gt2871 candidate
I wouldnt care if I get spooled 1000rpm later than now...
Ill experiment some more with the 'gt28r', to see how things work out otherwise, and I'll start looking for a 2871 after the summer.
I might just decide to upgrade some internals and cams too. That would probably be the right thing to do
Thanks for all tips.
