How would the performance be if I removed my borla muffler, and replaced with a remus...
#4
Theoretically it will, but by how much, I don't know. When I bought my REMUS, I had seen dyno
charts of a VR6 fitted with different mufflers, and the REMUS was the lowest improvement at 2%, whereas more aggressive (and louder) mufflers) averaged around 5% increase.
Since quieting down an exhaust, means changing the frequency the exhaust resonates, means also lowering its frequency, meaning slowing down the velocity of the air, so back pressure develops, which is not too good for a turbo. But if you look at a REMUS vs a BORLA muffler with their straight thru design, you start to wonder if it really matters. The REMUS has a perforated tube inside the chamber but the holes are not angled like small louvers like most other exhaust accounts for the difference. But, I don't think you will notice much change. You get 5 style points for the REMUS though
