Unless you want to spend another grand on an ECU.

Not worth it,IMO.

Default Did '97 models even come with trip computers?

I don't think that started until '98.5? IMO, '97 clusters will swap, connectors & wiring designation will be the same. But if there were a trip computer available, the wiring would be different. For example, an S4 cluster won't work at all in a '97 A4, but it will work (recoded) in a 99.5 or newer B5 A4.

I agree with Bryan though, not worth it.

Default yes you can swap it,

however it involves adding couple wires, new wiper arm with switch ... and plus coding.. and that is it..,

yes they did as option, my 97 2.8 came, and on 1.8T was a option

Default preety much all the sensors are in 1.8T

whatever it displays on your cluster it will be displayed on middle trip computer...

there are no pad wear sensors or headlighr sensors on my car.
