Default I need some information about chipping my car ..

I'll get my 2003 A4 1.8T CVT soon and have some questions about chipping it.

I want to chip my car but there is a problem. Audi's labor and parts are expensive, so i don't want to lose my warranty. My friend told me that there is just one way I can chip my car without losing my warranty. He told me to buy a new ECU and install the chip on the new one, in this way Audi can't know wheather or not I have a chip.

So, any ideas about how much the ECU cost ? and where can I find it ?

Thanks

Many of the chip manufacturers are willing to sell you a new ECU with the performance chip in it. You keep your old, stock one for swapping.

You'll pay about $600-800 premium over just a chip alone.

By the way, your friend isn't quite correct:

You don't lose your warranty. If there is damage to the car that is deemed to be caused by the chip, warranty wouldn't cover it. However, whether your car is chipped or not wouldn't matter if you had something like a headlight failure.
