Default Idle problems

Ok, heres my next problem, I have a 99.5 1.8t with gt28rs and I just put in an s4 maf housing which is 3" which is what my software is written for. I start the car, then it idles for about 3 seconds then rpms rise to about 1600rpm and then rpms drop off, and the car dies. If I unplug my maf it idles but dies when I give it gas. For the 3 seconds or so when its idling the maf sensor voltage is around 3.7. Bad maf maybe? Also I had my bypass valve blowing into the atmosphere with a spring stif enough that it wasnt open at idle, and the car was running at idle, but was rich and hesitate. Then I did a plumbback into the intake, but could it be possible that because its only about 3" behind the maf its disturbing the flow and giving a bad reading? Thanks for any help, you guys have been helping me get this car closer to healthy, and it's almost there!

Default 3" of straight pipe before & after the MAF are helpful .....

for achieving a smoother flow of air through the maf sensor, which will benefit your smooth idle.

Another thing you may need to do, as it seems you have some hybrid programming, is force the adaptations.

Default maf (along with most other non pulising items) should be between 1-5v (i think)

1 being extreme low and 5 being extreme high...i think being the key word behind this...

Default Re" Do you got a picture of your intake setup?

I've found it runs best how it is pictured on the ATP site. I've fooled around with lots of combo's but the software does best I have found with the 90 degree coupler off the turbo, directly to the MAF, filter directly connected to MAF.

Still sounds like you may have a leak.
Also run a throttle body recalibration, that can do you wonders.

Default Yea thats how I have it and then I drilled a hole in the 90 coupler and put the bpv return there.

I thought maybe its leaking there but I double checked and its definetly not. Also for the return, the tube I used sticked into the inside of the coupler maybe 1/4" which could possibly be disturbing flow?. I'll try and gets some pics today. Thanks

Default Yea I think I will have to reroute it because I dont have anymore room.

Also I have atp programming, but before I get flamed for it, there are many dbc guys running it with no problems. However I dont think I can adjust the adaptations. Thanks!
