Default I'm tracking my S4 in 3 weeks, what engine stuff do I need?

I've got an MTM ecu and that is it for the engine (got brakes, susp, sway) and I'm considering BPVs and a TBB. I know someone locally selling 2 Forge BPVs for $125. Is this a must have if I plan to track? What else should I consider?

Default If you can pick up those Forges at that price, that's a steal...

...just make sure they have the aluminum pistons (instead of the old Delrin ones) and that they're lubed up with fresh high-temp grease before you put them in. Having a spare or uprated TBB is a must to, and if you have a 2000 model, I'd replace that F-hose before it tears. If this is your first or second time at the track, I'd recommend not running the MTM chip and running stock instead. 250+hp is plenty for a track newbie (seriously).

Default I have 2001, will probably just purchase a TBB and keep it in trunk

And I have seriously considered going stock for at least the first day and then maybe installing mtm just to get proof of the improvement.

Did you notice improvement with your Forge or is it preventative maint?

Default Both!

My Bosch valves were failing so I knew I had to do it, but once I did, I could notice the car recoving boost faster and on fast shifts I can hold 5-10psi between them.
