Default K04 Dyno Results 2001 and issues......

178hp and 159 tq
Dyno runs showed a couple problems
1. 4.5 peak knock in cyl 4
a. compression test showed 130 psi(150psi cyl in #1)
2. boost curve 7 psi to 4500 and then 10-12psi
from that point
3. fuel rich 10:1 at red line
13:1 before boost spikes to 12 psi
(wide band O2 after factory cat)
4. Using a manual boost controller
210 tq and 155 hp.
extremely rich but much more useable
torque/power.
5. no detectable boost leaks.
6.possible lifter noise from #2 Cyl(i thought i
heard it from #4)
7.Crank Pressure strong enough to rattle the oil fill cap when loosened

8. Changing the fuel pressure did gain some hp but the ecu still tried to make it run rich

It is 3:00 am i just got home from the dyno, i prolly didnt give the full picture but please give me ideas.

I am gonna do a combustion chamber cleaner to try to restore compression in #4 cyl.

any Reasons help as to why the ecu doesnt allow more than 7 psi before 4500 RPM's?

Could the Program be "BAD"?
I did not have these problems with the "X-Chip"

2001 AWM
GIAC CH_K01A.08A Program-k04, 5bar FPR,
Greddy FMIC
2.5 exhaust

Default maybe the coilpack went bad, maybe spark plug is foul (or improper/wrong gap)

that is all I can think of considering the info you gave.

Default

wide band should be put before the cat, after will cause bad readings

Plug looked good and gap correctly.

I thought with the lower compression in that cyl it could be reatrding the boost due to high knock in one cyl.

aI think im gonna go back to my X chip and see what happens, maybe i can get in touch with GIAC and see why the requested is so low.

Default Is there anyway you can show us some logs of the wide band and with a vag?

The 2001 already has a 5 wire 02 which reads out lamda like a wide band.

Default Re: Is there anyway you can show us some logs of the wide band and with a vag?

I logged blocks 115 020 001, but i dont know where it went on the laptop. I need more time w/ Vag-Com to understand where info goes.

the reading i posted were visual off of the measuring block screen.

My biggest question is why would the ECU reduce Boost? and from those reasonsi would like to work backward to check each system.

another question is the MAP sensor.
to install the Greddy FMIC i had to cut the factory wire and extend to to the endtank on the FMIC. If that got damaged or is not reading correctly, it could register a fault code.
none are in the system.

other ideas are a new N75
change the MAF again
sell the car and buy an EVO MR(not gonna happen)

Thanks

Default Look for the Vag file and then look for a file called "logs".

If there is too much resistance in that wire you added the ecu will actually get a lower voltage reading then it really should.

Default I'll Check on that computer tommorow

Also lower voltage on the MAP sensor would tell the computer that boost was less and there fore it should provide more boost, correct?

so What if the VVT mechinism is stuck in high RPM operation. Increased over lap at lower Rpms would cause blow through and then by 4500 RPMs the boost would increase. Because of the faster RPMs and Airflow speed.

I dont not beleive i have boost creep because i can turn the boost to zero with lemmiwinks.

could i be on the right track, is the VVT mechanical, Hydrailic, electronic.

I have no DTC's if the system is hydralic then the ECU is just running conservative to save the engine.

Default Well lets look at the logs before we try to figure out what it is.

Need to move the wide band so it is in front of the cat since the cat can cause incorrect readings. Not sure why your boost is so low but I guess we will see what it says on the vag log(115) and see what the maf readings are like.
