K04 Tiptronic Impressions...................more!

To all you Tiptronic owners that have wanted more power and been scared off by the various cautions and warnings, here some positive news.

2000 Silver A4 1.8T FWD Tiptronic
K04 Turbo kit (AWE)
GIAC K04 ECU Chip
GIAC Tip Chip (latest 2000 revision)
SuperSprint Exhaust
K&N Filter
H&R coilover suspension
BBS RK 17x8" wheels
Bridgestone S02 pp tires (225/45)

The upgrade to the K04 works perfectly!!......especially when coupled with the GIAC Tip chip. The power is noticibly stronger than the K03 w/GIAC stage 1.5 chip and pulls hard all the way to red line (now 7K RPMs). Additionally the power is less peaky and more constant and uniform. When driven normally, you would never know that the car has been modified. When you press the accelerator a little harder, it quickly becomes obvious that this car wants to run hard!

If I had known it would feel this good, I would have done this upgrade a long time ago. I have read all the mixed postings, but decided that the need for speed out weighed the risk. I am very happy I decided to go ahead. I will post again after more time/miles to give the Tip community more info.

The entire upgrade was done by Dick Chiang at DynoSpot Racing in Mt. View California. Dick and his team are EXCELLENT and professional. The service is outstanding and I would highly recommend using DynoSpot Racing for any Audi modification work.

What did you spend on installation?

Re: What did you spend on installation?

I bought the K04 kit for $950 from a guy who decided to go with a different kit and had it installed at DynoSpot Racing (Excellent Shop!) for $500.

So..........Total cost was $1450

Re: How's throttle response/lag? Any other mods?

Throttle response is excellent........maybe even a little better than stock and there is no detectable lag difference.

I will install a cone intake kit, which doesn't really increase power, but allows the turbo to spool up faster!

I will post more as time/miles pass to update everyone one on longevity

Excellent...

Glad to hear the install went well, I was going to e-mail you to find out how it went. Still waiting on the final piece to my stage 3 kit =(
