KKK K03 VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry)!

KKK K03 VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry)!
Just for the hell of it I was browsing through KKK's Turbochargers Website and read the NEws section where they have developed a K03 with a Variable Turbine. Does anybody know anything about this turbine? I was wondering if we can do a little research to see if this can be a K03 Replacement option... maybe it'll fail less or not at all and VTG sound like more power to me. Any input would be appreciated, if we can't get any I'll give them an e-mail...

Re: KKK K03 VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry)!
In the past, VTG turbos have been relegated to Diesel duty for passenger cars.
Diesels have lower exhaust temperatures and the VTG turbos don't handle
the higher temperatures in gasoline engines very well. I can't say whether
this VTG K03 can handle the higher exhaust temperatures, but it is unlikely
that it will be more reliable than the non-VTG version. On top of that, there
would be development costs. The VTG turbos don't use waste gates.
The turbine geometry is varied in order to control turbine speed, instead of
just dumping the excess exhaust out the waste gate before the turbine.
You might be able to adapt the waste gate control to handle control of
the turbine geometry. It is certainly not a drop-in replacement.
