Lifter saga continues (noise came back! WTF!!)
All lifters were replaced... they started looking at the turbo issue. About 30 min of running the engine, the ticking/knocking came back.
Here is what we know: the ticking/knocking is coming from somewhere in the block. It is probably the loudest at around 2500 rpm - I was cringing when I watch them do this. It was that scary. Everything then quiets down if the rpm goes up from there!
They drained the oil 2x into a cloth, but finds no (zero) metal shaving/pieces.
Pyrometer shows consistent temp reading on each of the cylinders.
What else could it be? Drivetrain? Really running out of idea... help please! Car has been out of commission for 1 week... and not making any progress.

It's pretty hard to say without taking the engine appart, but if the noise comes from the bottom end at low rpms, it can be caused by excessive play on your main or rod bearings.
You will need to check everything and if you're lucky enough, just changing the bearings could solve your problem.
If your're on a bad day, maybe you'll need an engine rebuild.

What's the best way to go about it?
There is no leak rightnow... but that doesn't mean oil is getting to where they should go.
Since there is no oil press. gauge on the A4, how would they go about testing the oil pressure? I want to make this suggestion to them. And can this oil pressure test be localized (meaning, test on a specific area)?
Thanks,
Cris

You can either use a T where the oil pressure warning switch is.....
or if it's just going to be temporary, install the gauge in place of the switch.
It's on top of the oil filter housing, right next to the turbo oil feed line.
