Looking for a Aluminium 1.8T Engine Block? is there such a item around?

I don't believe the 2.0 and 1.8T engines share a bore
I believe the difference between the two is the bore, not the stroke and thus you can't just destroke a 2.0. This is definitely the case on the 2.7T and 2.8, and I think I remember it being the case on the 1.8T and 2.0.

checked again
2.0: Bore x Stroke - 3.25 x 3.65
1.8T: Bore x Stroke - 3.19 x 3.40
The 2.0 bore is already too large, so you can't even do some honing to fix it.
This info on the current Beetle which has both 2.0 and 1.8T engines. It doesn't necessarily indicate what the bore and stroke is on the new Al 2.0. However, I'd be surprised if it matched up to the current 1.8T.

Re: Looking for a Aluminium 1.8T Engine Block? is there such a item around?
Engine 1.9L TDI 2.0L 1.8T
Bore, in 3.13 3.25 3.19
Stroke, in 3.76 3.65 3.40
Displacement, in3 115.7 121.0 108.6
Compression Ratio(:1) 19.5 10.0 9.5 : 1
So a 2.0 block would require new pistons, which means rebalancing the bottom end. As long as you are at it, you might as well spring for the steel 1.9TDI crank and put it in there for a total dislacement of 2.1l or so.
All this and more for US$5k in parts. Depends on what ELSE you could do with 5k. I could buy a nice 7.0L crate motor for that much $, but then again it won't fit an A4 chassis (darn)
You pays your money, you takes your chances

Is the 1.9tdi crank a direct swap in to a 1.8t?
Just curious cause I can get pretty much any OEM VW/audi parts dirt cheap. I remember talking to a guy this summer who was stroking his 1.8t to 2.2l (and than putting it in a golf III) but I never asked how he was going to do it. Do any companies offer a stroker package for the 1.8t? Thanks.
