Default Looking for some info re: throttle lift -> 'clunk'

5th gear @ WOT at 95-100. I let off the throttle a bit fast this time and felt a 'clunk'. I assume the low 'thumps' are slack in the differentials.

I believe this is typical with quattro's but am not 100% sure.. I know I lifted hard cuz I saw the stick move more then usual in my peripheral vision. It didn't feel too healthy either. 18 months old & 23k. Any ideas?

TIA

Default Front engine mount?

I used to get a shudder on throttle lift at high speeds. The APR engine mount helped a lot. But vibration at idle is the trade-off. It's not bad, but noticable.

Good luck,
Rich

I was thinking that their engine mount might possibly lead to a solution.. I just don't want to loose all the quality in the ride.

At idle do your keys on the key ring ever vibrate?

Default No, it's not that bad.

I've never had anything in the car rattle, but the dash and doors do that plasticy tick-tick when it's cold. In the mountains one time, I had snow/ice all of the car and at idle the whole roof made this loud shuddering sound. That was hellish but it's normally not too bad.

Where are you? I bet APR could help you find someone close with the mount installed. I'm in central Oregon.

Default I had the same problem until I went to the APR mount....

There is a slight vibe in the steering wheel at idle when cold, but it gets better when it's warmed up.

Default Ok..

I'm in New York. I think SKS and bkw have the mounts. I'll follow up w/ them.

I've been skeptical about the rumored vibration but I think It may be worth it. I also hear the shifting is smoother.

If I can loose the clunking then I may just order it. Rich it almost feels like a huge rubber mallet is banging against the intake manifold.

Do you have to remove the front bumper?

Default I did. That's the hardest part...

It's not that bad, but it can be frustrating.
