Default Mas air flow mods

I was wondering if anyone has had a 2001 A4 1.8T and replaced the Mass air flow sensor and what they have seen both positive and negative from it...and can anyone give me a suggestion about an exhaust. I think I'm going with Remus. I aslo want a rear sway bar and short shift. Any suggestions? Post back and let me know...

no Input on the MAFS.

Neuspeeds sway bar seems to be one of the most popular and track proven, but on the flip side APR told me to go with the widest one I could find.

Remus makes a good exhaust system but there are quieter systems out there that are just as good if sound level is an issue.

UUC short shifter gets my vote.

With a car under warranty, I'd leave the MAF alone unless you've got engine mods that could benefit from it.

Nuespeeds rear sway kicks ***, virtually eliminates body roll with the right suspension combination. I wouldn't get the rear one without the front, though.

Check out strat's short shifter. Best quality, I think.

strat

Default Don't bother with a MAF swap, it's not a restriction...

The stock turbo is the restriction, and until you start flowing twice the amount of air with a larger turbo, upgrading the MAF is a waste. Plus you'd need new software to use a larger MAF, or else it will run lean (very bad)

hasn't installing the front sway bar in put you back into understeer?

Default If he has sport suspension upgrading the front bar is useless...

both Neuspeed and OEM Sport are 29mm solid. For those without sport suspension you can buy a used Sport sway bar for more than half the price of a new Neuspeed front bar. This is what I am doing. I agree with you that the front bar should be upgraded but only if you don't have sport suspension. =)

By the way, Nice pic!

Default Re: eurotrash

stiffen the front, get understeer

stiffen the rear, get oversteer

There are other ways to get that great "O" feeling ;-)

Default Re: eurotrash the Big"O" feeling?

Hey I thought this was a tuner board.<G>

you pretty well confirmed what I understood, I've always thought a neutural to oversteer bias is more desirable than understeer, correct?

So with adding a front sway bar your negating the positive effects created by the rear sway, so why do it? or do you just make sure the rear bar is wider than the front?

If you wouldn't mind, could you give me some feed back on some of the other mods to create the big "O"....other than power induced oversteer.

Default You wouldn't believe how easy it is to control.....

I was mastering the skill of steering with the gas pedal at Summit. I'd plow towards a cone coming out of a turn, understeering, lift just a little & get right back on it. The car would grab in the front from the weight shift of lifting off the gas, and the ca would pivot into oversteer for a moment. I could go full throttle through multiple turns with the exception of those "lift" moments. Quite awesome. If you've been to Summit, I could go full throttle from going into turn 6 through 9, and obviously up until slowing for 10. I'd lift for 7 just a little and that was it!
