missing AP racing brake shims... can I just use 4 washers for the spacers?
AP racing sends their kits with shims to go over the bolts and attach the caliper to the bracket... so that it is perfectly centered. I do not have the shims... can I just use the same size washer- they look identical, but obviously one comes with the kit, the other is avail. at any hardware store. AP Racing documentation says use the 7/16" bolt with the 7/16" washer to secure. Their website stats that with a kit has "shims" included. Thoughts?

Get a higher grade washer if you do it, as the size is supposedly more consistant from what I've been told. Even then, I'd get a handful and match them as much as possible. But, thats just me. Shims are all matched/same size for a certain group...

Many things can be considered a shim, like the wooden piece you use to level a door frame when it is
installed in a house. Shims can also be just flat pieces of thin metal, or plastic, whatever, as long as they provide a means to keep an item in place with precision and accuracy.
So, in this case, a shim would be a washer that is within a certain tolerance range for a certain size...
At least, that is my understanding ;-)

right backatcha... few quick questions...
Do you know the height of the shims- 1mm, etc? What is wrong with me going and using stainless or zinc washers rated for 7/16"?
Thanks so much for the offer to send them my way!
