Default MY 2000 vs 2001 TT 180 engine - differences

Does anyone happen to know what the exact differences are between a model year 1999/2000 180hp engine and the 2001 180? I'm referring strictly to the engine.

Neuspeed sells a compressor intake pipe for 1999/2000 180hp TT's and has another part # for the 2001 engine. Also, the EPA gives the 2001 180hp a "greener" emissions rating than the earlier 2001 1.8T, whether it's a quattro or not (so it's not fuel mileage...it must be emissions output).

I was thinking possibly a different computer ecu program (I believe the ecu upgrades are different, too), but why does the compressor intake vary? Maybe a slight difference in turbocharger design?

Thanks.

Read this on VWvortex, lots there about it. AWW VS AWE engine should find lots of hits.
