Default My dyno day numbers...

As you might have put together we had a dyno day in the Twin Cities. I did some looking around on MTM's website, they have dyno charts for each stage. I have MTM stage 2 software, Miltek exhaust, K04, and Z-flow fmic.

Anyway, take a look at my best run of the day.

Run 1: Max Power= 129.2 @ 4500 RPM
Max Torque= 162.0 @ 4000 RPM

Run 2: Max Power= 131.0 @ 4750 RPM
Max Torque= 168.9 @ 4000 RPM

Run 3: Max Power= 132.9 @ 4000 RPM
Max Torque= 174.4 @ 4000 RPM

Once thing that bugged me was the changing max power RPM from each run. Stage 2 MTM shows max power to be at 5250 RPM, so I'm wondering what could be the problem.

Default What my boost is doing

My boost builds to ~15 psi by 3k, then climbs to 21 psi by 4k. It then starts to taper from there.

Default AWD dynos are terrible...

and I think he was having some technical difficulties as well. WRXs typically dyno at around 130 hp stock on an AWD dyno.

Oh alright. That was really confusing, thanks for clarifying.

Default That would be at the crank...

But the earlier A4s came 150hp(@ crank) stock.

Default That is incorrect. WRX's always dyno right around 165-170 whp bone stock.

Crank they have 227hp, so if they only dyno'ed 130 whp that would be saying that ~50% of the energy inputed into the drivetrain is absorbed as heat (friction). The drivetrain would melt out of the car

Default Nope. It actually depends on the dyno.

At KTR in Auburn (Adrenalin) the dyno is a pig. They regularly have before and after dyno pulls of WRXs. Typically they are around 130 hp stock on that dyno. I'm sure MNsilverA4 had the same type of dyno.

My old modded 1993 90 ran at 95 hp on the Adrenalin dyno. It's supposedly a 175 hp engine. I got the 272s and some other stuff in but was never able to dyno it after that.

Default Yes, it does depend on the dyno. Apparently this one is WAY off..

Anyway, I thought you were generalizing in your statement that WRX's put down 130 whp everywhere, which in 95% of cases, they put down about 170 whp. Looks like we were both right

Default The problem is other people were seeing great numbers

samx, posted in the A4 forum his numbers on his T28 kit and we getting ~220 whp.

The one B5 A4 that ran, even though it had an intake and exhaust, we put a stock chip in and it ran 128whp. That's what is so dicouraging about is that on stock programming that car is within 5 whp of my car and it had better torque numbers.

chargedaudi is going to let me try his N75 k valve to see if that helps.

I really looks like the software is cutting back at 4k rpm. I guess I'll wait to hear back from the local tuner and see what he thinks the problem is.
