Default Need a little brake help.....

I tried searching but found mixed results. Heres the quick info- 2002 A4 1.8T w/ stainless lines. Question #1: Most driving is done on the street, aggressively when lonely roads permit, and a little track time here and there. I want to use Motul brake fluid, but I'm not sure if the 600 is what I should be looking at. My question is would the 600 be suitable for a vehicle that sees mostly street time? I'm not worried about the price, but only if it is TOO suited for track use. Question #2: I am getting a little shuddering/vibration that occurs when braking hard from higher speeds. I am not braking from 70 to 0, but more when going into a turn that requires a little lower speed. The current rotors have about 20k on them and am scheduled to have them replaced soon. I am curious to see if this is more of a pad issue or a rotor issue. TIA for any insight you could provide me!

Default Audi's are compatible with Motul 600, but it's french.

As far as brake fluid goes, it has to be compatible with Dot3/4, and can't be silicone based. For a non-french option, and actually better(but more $), click on the link below. BTW, you'll also want to flush your clutch line too, when you switch over to the new fluid.

Neo brake fluid

Default Mat speaks the TRUTH!

Motul has worked fine in my daily driver/track A4 for the last few years, replacing it once a season. Please keep in mind it's made in France and they haven't been nice to us lately (hmmm..or ever).

The NEO in my car now rocks!!!!

Your shudder is almost certainly a slightly warped rotor(s).

Good luck!

Default Thanks for the info. As for the Neo fluid....

roughly how much more is it and how much would I need to flush out everything (I didn't call the phone # since they're prob. closed)? As for the silicone issue, I did read a little info about leaks or carry over to the other cylinder and mostly about the "blue" fluid. I will def. stay away! Thanks again.

Default I will look into Neo. Thanks! The dealer is going to..

to replace the rotors soon, but I am not ruling out switching the new ones out for an upgrade later. I will def. switch out pads with the new rotors and have looked into the Pagid line as well as EBC. How are your Pagids re: noise or dust?

Default Pagid OEM style pads are fine, Pagid Blues are noisy and have alot of dust. I now run Mintex Redbox

pads on the street and Porterfield R4's on the track. The EBC Green pads are actually a good pad for the street (quiet and improved bite), but only good for very light track use. Whenever you change rotors ALWAYS change pads! If the delaer swaps out the rotors make sure they put new pads on.

Default The ATE SuperBlue and Typ 200 cause the slave cylinder seals to harden and makes the clutch pedal

feel like it's squeaky. It's a wierd feeling. This only seems to be a problem with 99.5 and newer Audi's.

The neo fluid is $12.95 per 12 oz bottle as opposed to ~$9.95 per 1/2 liter of Motul. I flushed my system out last weekend with approximately 3 bottles of Neo (just over 1 litre). I'm in the DC/VA Metro area and got my NEO from the company linked below. They are in Richmond, VA and I've had excellent service.

Just a side note that I also have used the NEO Racing gearoil in my 400+whp Mitsu and the stuff is amazing. It is so slick that it dances if you drop it on a smooth surface.

http://www.stockcarproducts.com/brkfld.htm</a

Are you happier with your Mintex pads?

For the street yes. Stop good, stay quiet and low dust.
